Criminal Incident and Accident Reports
Police reports are available through the records room as a convenience to victims. The primary goal of the records room when releasing police reports is to protect the rights of those individuals named in the report. As a result, police reports can be retrieved from the records room for the following persons:

Persons involved in the incident (victim, suspect, property owner); family members of persons involved in the incident if the person involved in the incident is deceased or incompetent; witnesses to an incident. Attorneys and Insurers for persons involved in the incident should use the link to the right to obtain information on retrieving police records.

Criminal Incident and Accident Reports are available to the above-listed individuals through the records room beginning 5 business days after the date of the incident. Requests can be made in person by visiting the Records Room at Police Headquarters or by mail.

Police Record Checks (Background Checks)
You may perform a police record check on yourself or others, provided you bring the following information to the Records Room:

• For your own record check: Social Security Card, proof of birthday.
  
• For a record check on an individual other than yourself: Individuals’ date of birth and social security number.

When receiving your own record check you may be provided with information relative to both “open” and “closed” arrests. When receiving a record check for another individual, only information considered to be “open” under Missouri law will appear on the record check.

"Open" information includes any arrests that have taken place in the last 30 days as well as any record where the subject was convicted of a crime. Information considered “closed” under the Missouri Sunshine Law will be released only if the party has written, notarized authorization to obtain such information. Fingerprinting Services
The Department provides limited fingerprinting services for those citizens who require prints for job applications or other agencies. Fingerprinting services are available every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost for each fingerprint card is $4.00. Citizens will be required to display two forms of identification before obtaining fingerprints, one of which must be a photo I.D.

The Metropolitan Police Department, City of St. Louis DOES NOT provide fingerprints for any of the following:

• State of Missouri licensing including paid, volunteer employment or licensing for child care, adult care, health care, educators, school bus drivers or security positions. Fingerprinting for these purposes may be provided by the State of Missouri’s approved vendor, MOAPS. MOAPS can be contacted at 1-866-522-7067 or Web address www.L1id.com/ibt .
  
  
• Fingerprinting for private security licensing in the City of St. Louis must be performed by the Department’s Private Security Section. For more information visit the Private Security page.

PERSONAL CHECKS AND CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED AS PAYMENT FOR POLICE REPORTS, FINGERPRINTS OR RECORD CHECKS.
