Lieutenant Colonel Paul Nocchiero

Deputy Chief, Commander of the Bureau of Auxiliary Services

Lt. Col. Paul Nocchiero joined the Metropolitan Police Department on September 26, 1977, as a Civilian Recruit in Training. On December 5, 1977, he was sworn in as a commissioned police officer. He began his career with the Department serving in Prisoner Processing, the Fourth District and the Bureau of Support Operations.

In June of 1986, Lt. Col. Nocchiero was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he served in the Third District, the Bureau of Support Operations and the Office of the Chief of Police. In addition to his duties in the Office of the Chief of Police, Lt. Col. Nocchiero trained Department employees on internal computer services.

Lt. Col. Nocchiero was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in July of 1989. In May of 1991, he became Commander of the Narcotics Division. Beginning in September of 1991, he served as watch Commander of the Third District, a role he held for nearly two years.

In July of 1993, Lt. Col. Nocchiero was promoted to the rank of Captain and served as Commander of the First District for two years. In January of 1996, he became Commander of the Internal Affairs Division.

Lt. Col. Nocchiero was assigned to the position of Secretary to the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners in February of 1998, a role he held until May of 2001. During that same year, he also served as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief of Police.

In November of 2003, Lt. Col. Nocchiero was promoted to the rank of Major and continued to work in the Office of the Chief of Police. He again served as Secretary to the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners from 2005 to 2008.

Lt. Col. Nocchiero then served as the Commander of the Bureau of Auxiliary Services. He continues to serve in that capacity since being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in January of 2009.

Throughout his distinguished career at the Department, Lt. Col. Nocchiero has received six prestigious Chief’s Letters of Commendation honoring his skilled work in law enforcement.

Lt. Col. Nocchiero earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Webster University and an Associate of Arts Degree from Forest Park Community College.

A resident of St. Louis Hills, Lt. Col. Nocchiero and his wife Peggy have two adult sons.
