The Metropolitan Police Department, City of St. Louis is home to the country's oldest police library. The Library’s collection includes all Department archives including photographs, hand written documents from the Department’s historical past, Board Minutes from the early meetings of the Board of Police Commissioners beginning in 1867, newspaper clippings beginning in 1956 and Department annual reports dating back to 1861.
The library primarily serves as a research center for the Department’s commissioned and civilian employees but is open to the public for research with appointments.
