Benefits Requirements
Education Tuition and incentive pay for college credit.
Medical Care Employee Medical and Dental Insurance provided by the Department.  Dependent insurance is available.
Life Insurance Provided by the Department.
Vacation

Three (3) weeks after one year of employment, with additional weeks based on seniority.

Holidays Fifteen (15) paid holidays per year.
Uniform and Equipment Furnished by the Department.


Age Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Height & Weight Should be proportionate.
Education Must have a high school diploma or a certificate of equivalency. In addition, all applicants hired after July 1, 1996 will possess 30 hours from an accredited college or university.  Any applicants not having those hours will have a maximum of 24 months after being commissioned to attain those hours.
Vision Minimum of 20/200 correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision
Citizenship Must be a citizen of the United States.
Residence Must become a resident of the City of St. Louis within ninety (90) days of hire.
Police Record No felony convictions or unfavorable police record.
Driver’s License: Must possess a valid state driver’s license
