“The G.R.E.A.T. program offers a tremendous opportunity for St. Louis Police Officers to continue to protect and serve our citizens, especially our children . . . it gives us an opportunity to de-glorify gang membership by showing youth the consequences of choosing a life of criminal behavior. The mental psyche of our children is challenged daily with negativity that promotes violence, disrespect to women, and a hatred for one another. Our mission is one of prevention – to stop the violence by showing youth a better way – and to show youth that being in a gang is not a sign of strength, but a sign of weakness!”
