Welcome to the G.R. E.A.T. St. Louis website.

G.R.E.A.T. stands for Gang Resistance Education and Training and it is a school-based law enforcement program that puts officers in the classroom. The SLMPD along with ARCHS manage the St. Louis Program.

G.R.E.A.T. transforms the traditional role of the police officer into one of mentor and friend, while encouraging young people to be partners, not adversaries in building safer schools and communities.

The St. Louis Program serves elementary and middle school students during the school year and the summer. We also offer a family strengthening program for parents and youth.

We currently have nine trained G.R.E.A.T. Officers that have to date worked directly with more than 2000 youth in the classroom, teaching them life skills like goal setting, decision making, and communication skills. The program is designed to provide students with the skills they need to avoid gang pressure and youth violence. The classroom curriculum helps students develop beliefs and practice behaviors that will help them avoid destructive behavior.
