Major Gerald Leyshock

Commander of South Patrol

Major Gerald Leyshock joined the Metropolitan Police Department as a Police Officer on December 2, 1979. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 1991. As a Sergeant, he served in Area III, the Eighth and Sixth Districts.

Major Leyshock was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December of 2001, where he served in the Housing Authority Unit.

In February of 2007, Major Leyshock was promoted to the rank of Captain. He served as the Commander of the Third and Fourth Districts.

In January 2013, Major Leyshock was promoted to the rank of Major and assigned as the Commander of the South Patrol Division.

Major Leyshock holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri.

Major Leyshock has received 11 Chief’s Letters of Commendation during his career.

Major Leyshock is the Police Athletic League boxing coordinator at the 12th and Park Recreation Center.

Major Leyshock fought in Guns N Hoses 8 times after fighting on the first show in 1987. Major Leyshock retired from competing and since 1999 has been the Manager of the City Police Team. All proceeds go to Backstoppers and over 4 Million Dollars has been raised since 1987.
